World Travel Guide Europe Spain When to Go Picture choosen by: Mr.George Wright Best time to visit Spain May and September are the ideal months to visit Spain (plus April and October in the south). At These times you can find nice weather, yet avoid the extreme heat and the main travel season.

The best festivals are concentrated between holy week and September. So if you want to hit some parties, you can go at this high season.

Summer is always a popular season for costal and interior regions in Spain.Tourism on the Iberian Peninsula reaches its height in August; the coastal regions overflow while inland cities empty out, leaving closed offices, restaurants, and lodgings. The Peninsula plays host to some thirty million tourists a year - almost one for every resident - and all the main beach and mountain resorts are packed in July and August, as are the major sights. So, as a general rule, always make reservations if you plan to travel in those months.

However, low season traveling offers many advantages-Lower crowds and lower prices. Many hotels cut their prices by at least 30%m and the reservations are seldom necessary. But keep in mind, many tourists places will be closed during this time too.
