Travel DocumentsIf you are flying internationally into Indonesia, most nationalities are required to apply a visa on arrival. As of Jan 2010, the only type of visa on arrival available is US$25.00 for 30 days, extendable once to up to 60 days. (note: The previous US$10.00 / 7 day visa is no longer available)
By Plane
Lombok's only airport is Mataram's Selaparang Aiport, which occasionally also shows up in flight schedule as “ Ampenan”
*Bali is only 20 minutes away and is serviced by several airlines. But be cautious to its frequently cancelling flights. And your luggage may be offloaded without notice by Trigana if the aircraft is over capacity.
*Java has daily connection to Jakarta (2 hours) with Garuda Airlines, Lion Air and Batavia Air, while Lion Air, Batavia and Merpati fly to Surabaya (1 hour).
*On Sumbawa, Sumbawa Besar and Bima can be reached on Trigana Air.
*Intrenational flights are limited to Singapore three times per week on Silk Air. Garuda and Merpati offer one-stop connection to Kuala Lumure (Malaysia).
>Tips : Flying out of Lombok, you are subject to the airport departure tax which can be paid in cash Indonesian Rupiah only, so save some bills for the trip out.
By Boat
Bali Slow ferries available from Padang Bai on Bali leave about every hour (24 hour) for the four to five hour trip to Lembar.
Sumbawa and Flores, ferries run from Labuhan Lombok on the east coast to Poto Tano on Sumbawa. Since arranging your own transport on both side can be really expensive, it's cheaper to arrange this through any travel agent, many of whom offer fares across Sumbawa and onwards to Flores.
